Originating in the early eighties in urban Jamaica, reggae dancehall music emerged out of a reaction to the prevalence of traditional reggae. First, it was defined by selectors toasting over reggae riddims, rapidly evolving into a signature combination of digital sounds, infectious beats, and sometimes raw lyrics. This genre saw further transformat
